Recovered revenue — and how to check it
The number Vereli reports is one you can verify yourself. That is the whole design, so here is exactly how it works and how to audit it.
How a recovery is counted
Every conversation gets its own unique discount code. Not a shared code, not a campaign code — one code, one conversation.
When an order comes in carrying that code, Vereli attributes it to that conversation. That is the entire rule.
So you can check any number we show you. Take a recovery from your dashboard, find its code, search your Shopify orders for it. The order will be there or it will not.
What counts, and what does not
Counted: an order that redeemed the conversation's discount code within 7 days of the first message.
Not counted:
- An order with no Vereli code — even if the customer was messaged. If we cannot prove we caused it, we do not claim it.
- A code redeemed after 7 days.
- An order later refunded or cancelled. Recovered revenue goes down when that happens, on purpose.
Why this is stricter than it could be
Most tools attribute on a time window: message someone, and any purchase in the next N days counts. That reliably overstates, because plenty of those customers were coming back anyway.
Vereli only counts orders carrying its own code. That undercounts — someone genuinely persuaded who returns without using the code is invisible to us. We would rather report a number you can check than a bigger one you have to trust.
Worth knowing when comparing tools: a competitor's larger figure may be a looser rule rather than better performance.
Cost per recovered dollar
On your dashboard and weekly report: message spend divided by revenue recovered.
It is an estimate on the SMS side, based on a per-message rate rather than your actual Twilio invoice, and it is labelled as such wherever it appears. The recovered-revenue figure it divides is exact.
If a week recovered nothing, this shows as not applicable rather than zero — spend with no return is undefined, not free.
The weekly report
Monday, to the recipients in Settings: revenue recovered, conversations started, recovery rate, messages sent, estimated spend, and cost per recovered dollar. Split by channel once you have email running.
If a number looks wrong
Check the code against your Shopify orders first — that usually explains it. If it still looks wrong, email support@vereliapp.com with the conversation and we will trace it. An attribution bug is a serious bug and we would want to know.
